Art Ambassadors at the Main Campus
The curator and staff of the Art Program in the Arts & Medicine Institute are looking for more volunteer Art Ambassadors (or art docents). The Art Program offers docent tours of the art collection on main campus in the Miller Pavilion on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with three tours each day: 11 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. These regularly scheduled Wednesday/Saturday tours are for patients, visitors, and staff. They also offer tours of the collection to school groups and special groups.

The docents go through a 6-8 week training period with the curators. The training consists of independent reading/study; meeting every other week with the curators; and shadowing current docents until the new docent feels comfortable leading his or her own tour. The commitment is minimal: the docent could give 2-4 tours per month depending on his or her availability. Because of the training, the Art Program staff is looking for volunteers who are interested in making a dedicated long-term commitment to an assignment as an Art Ambassador.

Being an Art Ambassador and giving tours is incredibly rewarding! The docents find it rewarding and a privilege to be able to spend time with families of patients while their loved ones are in surgery or in recovery; or to take visitors around from out of town to share with them the art at the Clinic.

If you're interested in becoming an Art Ambassador, visit the Clinic's Volunteer Services web page or contact Jennifer Finkel, Curator: (216) 448-0233 or finkelj@ccf.org.
